Mt. Redoubt Eruption – 1966
Redoubt Volcano, or Mount Redoubt, is an active volcano located across Cook Inlet and west of Nikiski. At 10,197 feet, it is the highest summit in the Aleutian Range.
Mount Redoubt is known to have erupted four times since it was first observed: in 1902, 1966, 1989 and 2009. It erupted for several months in 1966 and spewed gases and ash over Nikiski.
