Murray Bell was born May 9, 1904 in Anthony, KS to Frank A. and Phoebe (Tucker) Bell. His family moved to Minnesota when he was young, and there he married Hilma Elizabeth Hermanson. By 1940 they had one child, Fay, and Murray was working as a truck driver for the Alaska Road Commission in Anchorage. In 1942 when he registered for the draft, he had a cab company. He eventually became a salmon fisherman. His nephew was David Graham Bell, the son of Murray's brother Lloyd L. Bell, and when Murray purchased Joe Brooking McGaughey's homestead in 1964 he became close neighbors with David and Daisy Bell just down Island Lake Road.
Murray passed away on February 14 1986, at age 81 in Grants Pass, OR and Hilma passed in 1997.
